Who it's for

A fully licensed LPC, LCSW, LMFT, LCDC or psychologist opening a practice of one in Texas, who wants to start with a few insurance plans and some self-pay clients.

  • Good fit: you already know which plans most of your future clients carry, and you're happy to run your own website and send your own claims from the EHR.
  • Pick Complete instead if you want Medicare, six plans, billing set up for you, or your website and directory listings done. See Solo Practice Launch: Complete.
  • Not yet: LPC Associates, LMSWs and other supervised licensees practice under a supervisor and generally can't bill insurance on their own. Talk to us when your full license is close.

Everything included

  • Launch roadmap and 1:1 kickoff
  • Business set-up checklist: entity, EIN, bank, name (filed by you or your attorney)
  • NPI Type 1 and Type 2
  • CAQH ProView profile built and attested
  • Credentialing with 3 insurance plans
  • Policies and client forms kit under your name (HIPAA, consents, privacy notice, telehealth, financial policy, good faith estimate)
  • Cima EHR set up with your forms and fees
  • 30 days of support after opening

Your policies and forms are written under your practice's name and loaded into the EHR, so a new client signs them before the first visit. You read, adopt and sign them; we don't sign anything for you.

What you pay separately

These go straight to the agency or vendor, never through us. Your roadmap lists each one before it's due.

File an assumed name certificate if you'll use another name$25 filing fee (Texas Secretary of State) (changes; we check the current fee)

  • Free: your NPIs from NPPES and your CAQH profile.
  • Insurance you buy: malpractice (many plans ask for $1 million per claim and $3 million a year), general liability for the office and cyber coverage.
  • Your attorney and CPA, for the entity, operating agreement, lease and taxes. Our checklists keep their time short.
  • Running costs: office rent, phone, and Cima EHR after the included months.

What's not included

  • Filing your entity. We give you the checklist; you or your attorney file with the Texas Secretary of State.
  • Medicare enrollment. It comes with Complete, or $350 per clinician on its own.
  • Billing set-up (clearinghouse, ERA and EFT, eligibility scripts): in Complete, or $1,500 on its own.
  • Website and directory listings: in Complete, or $950 on its own.
  • Legal or tax advice. We aren't a law or accounting firm.
  • A promise that a plan will take you. Each plan decides, and some panels are closed in some areas. We tell you plainly and suggest the next plan to try.

Questions

Can I see clients before my insurance plans are effective?

Yes, as self-pay. Give each self-pay client a good faith estimate before services, as the No Surprises Act requires; it's in your forms kit. Don't see a plan's members as in-network before that plan's effective date, or the claims will deny.

Which three insurance plans should I pick?

The ones your future clients actually carry and that are open to new providers in your area. In Texas that list usually starts with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, Aetna, Cigna's Evernorth and UnitedHealthcare's Optum. We check who's open before you choose.

Do I need an LLC or a PLLC?

Many licensed clinicians use a PLLC or a professional corporation, but it's a legal and tax choice. Make it with your attorney or CPA. We give you the questions to ask and keep your names identical across the state filing, NPI, bank and every application.

I already booked a roadmap session. Does it count?

Yes. The $395 session is credited in full if you sign up for this package within 30 days.

Do I have to use Cima EHR?

No. The package sets Cima up with your forms and fees and includes the first months, but you can take your data and go.

Is it a percentage of what I bill?

Never. It's a flat fee, in writing, paid in two parts as the work lands.
